When the opportunity presents itself.....

"And when the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came." Luke 4:13

No matter where you are on your spiritual journey the opportunity will always present itself for the devil to tempt you. No degree of knowledge or measure of age will keep you from the reach of temptation. It is another one of the constants in this life.... death, taxes and temptation.

No cunningness can outwit his attacks. No moral life, no matter how outstanding, is able to withstand his onslaught. We might for a season believe we have overcome only to find out that the devil is far more patient than originally thought. He has stood the test of time and will not give up until God himself brings him to a stop. Even Jesus himself knew that he was not free of his temptation. He had won one battle in a never ending war.

Of course we know that in the end Jesus will be victorious. The only question is will we?
Will we stand the test of time?

To do that we must remain ever vigilant. Never taking for granted the price he paid. Never giving in to the temptation of complacency which is the devils greatest weapon. We must stand upon the word as if our life depended on it, because a victorious life can only be won day by day. We must stand in the shadow of the cross and claim the reward which is ours.

"So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you." Hebrews 10:35
